Game Recap

Saturday night’s 2-0 win over Terre Haute North in Evansville represented a lot for the Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team.
It was the 18th straight victory for the Braves; the Braves second win that day after winning 4-1 in the morning over Columbus North; the 16th shutout win of the season for Brebeuf; it helped tie the school-record for most wins in a season (set each of the past two years) at 22; but, most importantly it gave the Braves their second straight IHSAA Semi State championship and sent them on to next Saturday’s state title game where they will look to defend their state crown.
Brebeuf, now 22-1-1 on the season, scored the first goal against Terre Haute North when junior defender Jordan Smith took a cross from senior All American Alia Martin and netted the goal with 10:25 to play in the first half. Exactly five minutes later senior Lauren LaMothe scored with an assist to sophomore Brianna Arthur.
Brebeuf outshot Terre Haute North 16-3. Senior goalie Lauren Turner played the first half and junior Reni Osuntokun played the second half.
The Braves will play undefeated Penn for the IHSAA state title next Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.
