Bishop Chatard Defeats Brebeuf Jesuit on the Gridiron

Five turnovers were too much for Brebeuf to overcome as 3A #3 Chatard used big plays to score 27 unanswered points and defeat the Braves 27-17 in the season opener.
Brebeuf’s defense kept the powerful Trojan offense bottled up most of the night, but a 37-yard TD pass from Chatard QB Mark Nondorf to WR Jack Kassenbrock on 4th-and-10 right before halftime, combined with Trojan Wyatt Shrader’s 17-yard pick-six to start the third quarter, were back-breakers.
Brebeuf QB Derrick Ozobu threw for 243 yards on 29 for 48 passing, but was under pressure all night, getting sacked six times in addition to three interceptions. His two TD passes to fellow senior WR Jacob Pressler were the Braves’ offensive highlights.
Brebeuf will attempt to even their record when they host Tech next Friday night at 7:00at St. Vincents Health Field.
