It’s Tournament Time!

We have already seen the finish of the City and County Tennis Tournaments. Heritage Christian made an impressive run to the finals before falling to Cathedral. Joel Mounts earned the title of City Champion at #3 singles.

Maggie Shaffer of Bishop Chatard (2106 CCC Champ) and Angelica Pfefferkorn of Guerin Catholic (reigning CCC Champ) will be playing in the Girls Golf State Championship at Prairie View Golf Club on Friday morning. They are scheduled to tee off from the 10th at 10:45.

The City Girls Soccer Championship takes place on Wednesday night at Bishop Chatard. The Trojans will face Cathedral.

The Boys and Girls Cross Country Championships will be held at Graham Martin Park on Saturday morning at 9:00 am. Matthew Burton of Heritage Christian and Nathan Kolbus of Bishop Chatard will be competing. The County Championships will be held at Brebeuf at 9:30 and feature the Braves and the Rebels. Look for CCC Champion Katherine Modrall and Zoe Simmons to lead the Braves to another great finish.

The Girls Soccer County Tournament will continue on Wednesday. The #1 nationally ranked Brebeuf Braves will defend their title against Warren Central at Pike at 7:30. The Roncalli Rebels will face Lawrence Central at LC at 7:30. Roncalli and Brebeuf would meet in the semi-finals on Saturday.

The Boys Soccer County Tournament will also continue on Wednesday. The Robert Thang and Daniel Woodruff led Rebels will also face Lawrence Central at LC at 5:00.

The County Volleyball Tournament begins on Wednesday with the Rebels hosting Lawrence Central at 5:30 Brebeuf Jesuit hosts Pike at 5:30, also. With victories, Roncalli would host the winner of Perry Meridian/Franklin Central on Thursday at 7 and Pike would travel to Speedway (also at 7).

The Boys Tennis Sectionals begin on Wednesday. The CCC Champions, Guerin Catholic, travel to Carmel to face Westfield at 4:15. Roncalli heads to Franklin Central to test Beech Grove at 4:30. Bishop Chatard faces Cathedral at North Central at 4:30. Brebeuf Jesuit goes against host Park Tudor at 4:30. Heritage Christian will contend with Lawrence North in a rematch of one of their first matches of the year at LN at 4:30. With the exception of Guerin (who would play at 4:15 on Friday), all Sectional finals take place on Thursday.

More tournament action will follow next week with the City Volleyball tournament, Tennis Regionals, and Soccer and Cross Country Sectionals.
