Brebeuf Jesuit – The Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team has still not lost a Circle City Conference game. The Braves, two-time defending conference champs, picked up their first win of the 2018 campaign Tuesday night at home with an impressive 7-2 victory over Chatard. The 1-2 Braves will play at home Thursday at 6:00 p.m. against Covenant Christian.

The Braves, now 31-2-2 on their home field over the past five seasons, got on the board less than five minutes into the contest when sophomore Courtney Kelley scored on a pass from senior captain Alex Meltzer. Twenty minutes later junior Sophie Weeter scored the first of her three goals on the night for a 2-0 lead. Senior captain Brianna Arthur registered her first of three assists Tuesday on the play. With 10 minutes left to play in the first half Weeter scored again from Arthur to give the Braves a 3-0 cushion at intermission.

After Chatard scored at the 30:58 mark of the second half, Brebeuf answered just 23 seconds later when Meltzer scored on a pass from Arthur. The Braves extended the margin to 5-1 25 minutes later when Kelley scored again on a pass from Meltzer.

After Chatard scored its second goal with just over 23 minutes remaining, junior Paige Edens scored less than a minute later on a pass from junior Elizabeth Brase. Weeter closed the night’s scoring with her third goal on a pass from senior Kate Gunderson at 14:23.

Sophomore goalie Savannah McNeal was impressive in goal for the Braves with five saves. Playing well defensively for Brebeuf were: senior captain Grace Roberts, senior captain Beth Kelley, senior Kate Gunderson, junior Zoe Simmons and sophomore Morgan Shine.

Bishop Chatard – The Trojan defense struggled to contain the Brave’s top notch offense. The Trojans found space to get shots off, but could not capitalize. C. DeVettori got on the board with a direct free kick. Jacobson broke though the midfield and scored from 30 yards out.
