With a conference championship on the line, the host Covenant Christian Warriors packed the house. They jumped out to an early lead and appeared to be in control throughout the first half. The Warriors took the same three-point lead they held at the end of the first quarter into the half having answered a handful of Roncalli runs with big-time buckets of their own. The second half was a different tale as Coach Stan Benge’s Rebels came out of the break on fire. They reeled off 14 unanswered points to start the third frame and never looked back. A game Warriors squad managed to cut the Rebels’ lead to three in the final minute, but ultimately Roncalli was able to get the defensive stops they needed to ice the game at the free-throw line.

The Roncalli victory grants Heritage Christian the conference championship. The Rebels will finish in second once again. If Chatard defeats Brebeuf, they will finish in third. Covenant appears poised to finish in fourth. Guerin Catholic is guaranteed fourth, and Brebeuf will finish in fifth.
