Playing its second game in three days against a Top 3 ranked opponent, the Brebeuf girls soccer team moved its record to 4-0-1 Thursday evening at Varsity Field with a 2-0 victory over 1A No. 2 Chatard in a Circle City Conference encounter. The Braves will play their second of three games in three days on Friday afternoon when they meet Carmel (2A No. 2) in the Zionsville Invitational.
Brebeuf got its first goal with 14:16 left to play in the first half when junior defender Jordan Smith took a pass from senior Lauren LaMothe for the score. Junior Hallie Pearson scored the game’s only other goal with 11:50 left in the game on a put back on a shot by senior Alexa Cline.
Senior Lauren Turner (one save) and junior Reni Osuntokun (two saves) shared duties in goal. Playing well defensively for Brebeuf were Smith, senior Natalie Kelley, sophomores Kate Gunderson and Grace Roberts and junior Caroline Bice.
The Braves outshot Chatard 17-5.
