Game Recap

Playing in its third consecutive IHSAA state regional championship game vs. its third different opponent, the Brebeuf Jesuit Braves won their second straight regional crown with a 2-0 win over Guerin at Carmel High School Saturday afternoon. The victory marks the 16th straight win for the Braves, with the last nine coming via shutouts. The Braves, now 20-1-1 on the season, will play next Saturday in the semi-state in either Evansville or Jeffersonville with two wins separating the defending state champs from a chance to repeat!
The Braves, who out shot the Golden Eagles 16-5 in the game, totally dominated the first half but it was 0-0 at intermission. The Braves remained calm and Senior All American Alia Martin scored the first of her two goals less than two minutes into the second half at the 38:45 mark on a pass from junior Kayla Fitts. Martin closed the game’s scoring with a PK with 12:29 to play for the 2-0 final.
Senior Lauren Turner (first half, one save) and junior Reni Osuntokun (second half, four saves) combined in goal for the team’s ninth consecutive shutout win.
Playing well defensively for the Braves were: Jordan Smith, Natalie Kelley, Caroline Bice, Lizzy Case, Emma Mazurek, Gracie Medcalfe, Hope Edens and Hallie Pearson.
