Bishop Chatard Defeats Brebeuf Jesuit 28-7 in Sectional 29

The season ended the same way it began on Friday night for these two Circle City Conference foes: Brebeuf Jesuit losing at home to Bishop Chatard. The Trojans handled Brebeuf 28-7 in their Class 3A Sectional 29 opener.
Chatard rolled up 208 rushing yards, including a 42-yd TD by Jarrod Stiver, which gave the Trojans a 14-0 lead in the first 7 minutes of the game, a lead they would not surrender. Brebeuf answered with a Clay Mayer 10-yd TD reception from Luke Iffert to make the score 14-7, but Chatard countered a minute later with a 53-yd TD strike from QB Billy Dury to Graham Jaeger to make it 21-7 at the half. Once again, the Trojan defense stifled the Braves offense, holding them to 153 total yards, only 13 on the ground.
Gabe Coleman led the way for the Trojan offense, carrying the ball 34 times for 123 yards and 2 TD’s. Jarrod Stiver also contributed in the ground game with 9 rushed for 70 yards and a TD. Dury only put the ball in the air 9 times, but the big one was the 53-yd TD at the end of the first half. Bishop Chatard advances to play Tri-West in the 3A Sectional 29 semifinals next Friday.
