Lady Braves Cruise Past Center Grove
The Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team continued its successful “Road Show” Wednesday night at Center Grove with an impressive 5-1 triumph in a very physical game. The Braves are 2-0-1 to start the ’17 campaign — with all three games coming on the road. The “Show” continues on Saturdayafternoon when the Braves travel to Carroll Stadium in downtown Indianapolis to face Guerin Catholic at 3:30 p.m.
Junior MF Brianna Arthur led the Braves with two goals vs. the Trojans while senior MF Hallie Pearson added a goal and an assist and senior F Kayla Fitts earned two assists. Senior DEF Jordan Smith had a goal along with senior F Sylvia Soria. Junior MF Alex Meltzer and freshman F Gabbie Lindeman were each credited with an assist.
Senior goalie Reni Osuntokun was in goal for the Braves.
Smith got things started with an unassisted goal just 12 minutes into the contest.Fourteen minutes later Arthur scored her first goal on a pass from Fitts and Pearson to give Brebeuf a 2-0 halftime edge. After Center Grove scored early in the second half, the Braves put the game away when Arthur and Pearson scored less than a minute apart. Soria closed the scoring on a goal with a pass from Lindeman with 11:32 to play and Braves fans had an enjoyable ride home.
