Brebeuf Battles for State, Sectional
The Brebeuf Braves will travel to Muncie on Saturday to play the New Castle Trojans for the IHSAA AAA State Volleyball Championship. This match is scheduled to start at 3 pm at Worthen Arena on Ball State’s campus. The Braves come into the match with a record of 29-9 while New Castle is 33-6. The Braves are attempting to win their fifth title since 2003. New Castle won the title in 2007.
The Brebeuf football team will be hosting Southmont in their Sectional Final. This game is scheduled for a 7:00 kickoff. The Braves come in riding a five game winning streak. Southmont shares Brebeuf’s 7-4 record. Jeff Sagarin has the Braves as a 25 point favorite.
The Bishop Chatard Trojans will be facing the Cardinal Ritter Raiders at 7:00 at North Central for a Sectional title. The Trojans bring a 6-5 mark into the contest, having won their last two games by a combined score of 110-6. Friday’s competition will no doubt be a little bit stiffer. The Raiders are 9-2 but are still listed as a 12 point underdog according to the computer rankings.
Girls basketball officially gets underway on Saturday. Guerin Catholic will travel south to face Bloomington North at 1:30. Heritage Christian’s high-powered squad will host East Central at 2:30. Brebeuf rounds out the action when they travel to Cathedral for a 7:30 tip.
