Brebeuf Grabs First Place in GLAX Standings
CCC – With their victory over Guerin Catholic Wednesday night, the Brebeuf Braves moved to 2-0 and atop the Circle City Conference standings. Bishop Chatard is a half-game back with next weeks battle with the Braves to play a large part in who will wear the conference tiara. Guerin Catholic finishes 1-2 and can finish no worse than third. Heritage Christian is 0-2 with one game remaining (vs Bishop Chatard).
Brebeuf Jesuit – The Braves scored early and often in this Circle City Conference match-up. The Braves were paced by Sophomore Meg Baxter on the Draw who was able to control the pace of play winning a majority of her draws. It was close for the first 5 minutes with the game at a 3-1 Braves advantage before the offense went on a spurt putting it at 10-3 mid-way through the first half.
The Braves didn’t let up to start the second half, pushing the score to 19-5 within the first 7 minutes of the second half. The Braves saw scoring from Seniors Abby Barkdull, Sophie Ossip, Sarah Green, Juniors Lily Cota, Annie Bankston, Sophomores, Meg Baxter, Ava Lowry, Natalie Bir, including 10 assists on 19 goals.
The Braves move to 2-0 in conference play, 7-2 in-state, and 8-4 overall. The Braves travel to Culver Academies on Friday April 20th as they face the state runner-ups from a year ago.
