Braves continue conference streak (GS)
Brebeuf Jesuit – The Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team raised its season record to 2-2 Thursday night with an impressive 5-0 shutout win over Covenant Christian on a beautiful evening at Varsity Field. The Braves, now 2-2 on the year, will entertain No. 15-ranked and defending state runner-up Guerin on “Kicking Out Cancer” Night Saturday at home at 7 PM.
Sophomore goalie Savannah McNeal was impressive registering her first career shutout win in the victory with two saves. Leading the defensive effort were: seniors Grace Roberts, Beth Kelley, Kate Gunderson, Karena Dhamecha and sophomore Morgan Shine.
Senior captain Brianna Arthur, off to a sizzling start with six assists in the first four games, had two goals and two assists for the Braves. Junior forward Paige Edens added two goals and freshman Emma Hamilton netted the first goal of her career in the victory. Edens scored just four minutes into the game and Arthur added goals at 12:54 and 8:47 to give the home team a 3-0 advantage at halftime. Edens made it 4-0 with 33 minutes left in the game and Hamilton closed the night’s scoring with 15 minutes to play.
Freshman Erin Terry added an assist along with seniors Sarah Koenig and Leigh Anne Roth. The Braves are now 32-2-2 on their home field over the past five seasons.
