Guerin Catholic – In a varsity only contest, Guerin Catholic played host to CCC opponent Covenant Christian.
Fans in attendance on the humid evening saw two freshmen take over scoring in the first half for the Golden Eagles. Both Alyssa Ferry (juniors Stagge and Heck with assists) and Katie Koger (Cappella with an assist) struck twice, sending GCWS to the half with a 4-0 lead.
In the second half, junior Anna Schultheis found the back of the net for her first time this season, off an assist from Koger. Freshman Ainsley Mattis scored her first career goals in minutes 73′ and 77′ (one assisted by sophomore Lily Snyder).
Freshman Bailey Cappella is credited with the shutout, the teams third in five games.
GCWS travel to CCC opponent Roncalli on Thursday for a JV (5:30P) and V (7:00P) match up.
Covenant Christian – The Girls Soccer team (2-3-1, 0-2) fell to 0-2 in Circle City Conference play last night, losing to Guerin Catholic HS 7-0.  The Lady Warriors held tough early with the #13 ranked team in Class 3A and the defending state runner-up Lady Golden Eagles, trailing 2-0 at halftime.  But GCHS blew the game open in the second half, finding the net five more times.  CCHS goalkeepers made 19 saves in the match.
The Lady Warriors will be back at home on Thursday night, to make up the match with Cardinal Ritter HS that was postponed this past Saturday.  Kickoff is scheduled for 5pm.
