Three for Three
Circle City Conference brings home three state championships this weekend with girls cross country still to run. Brebeuf Boys Soccer, Heritage Christian Girls Soccer and Brebeuf Boys Cross Country all won their first state championships this weekend
Brebeuf Boys Soccer
Brebeuf overcame a 0-7-2 start to win a state title. On the way to that accomplishment, they beat the conference champion Guerin Catholic who went 5-0 in conference play.
The Braves struck first last night with one of the quickest goals in the history of the state finals before West Lafayette answered to tie the game 1-1 at the half. The team came out strong in the second half, creating many great chances, and finally scored midway through the half before sealing it with a third goal late in the half. The Braves continued to improve all season and that pattern continued for their first-ever state title.
Heritage Christian Girls Soccer
Much like the Braves, they started off the season rough before finding their stride late in the year. Despite a 1-4 conference record the young team led by two freshmen goal scorers continued to get much better and capped it off with a dominant state championship performance.
Heritage controlled the ball in their 4-0 victory and got a state championship first hat trick from Freshmen Abby Foulk who had a phenomenal season. This was the team’s first state title in school history.
Brebeuf Boys Cross Country
After back-to-back 3rd place finishes at the state championship the Braves broke through to bring back the school’s first Boys XC State Championship and the second state championship for the school this weekend.
Much like both the other teams on this list the Braves started the year not as planned with a 3rd place showing in the conference championship meet way back in August, but the theme continued as they showed resilience and improved throughout the season before capturing their state championship
Lily Cridge will compete in the Girls XC State Championship
Both Brebeuf and Roncalli Volleyball teams will attempt to advance to the State Championship with a victory in Semi-State.
