Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a big weekend for the conference including several wrestlers advancing to state and Chatard girls basketball team winning the regional championship and advancing to semi-state next weekend.

The weekend started with Roncalli sending five wrestlers to the state finals: Junior Bryce Lowery, Senior Kody Glithero, Junior Luke Hansen, Senior Justin Lewis and Sophomore Braden Getz all won at semi-state. This is the second most wrestlers Roncalli has ever sent to the state finals. Adding to the conference success were Chatard and Guerin who each sent one. Guerin’s Peter Nguyen became the first state qualifier in the school’s history while Chatard’s Tommy Hannon was the school’s first qualifier since 2014.

Chatard’s success continued on Saturday night as the girl’s basketball closed out a huge fourth quarter in a tightly fought game to advance to Semi-State next weekend. The Trojans edged out Indian Creek in the Regional 7 final in what was a back and forth contest before a 23-point fourth-quarter sealed the game.

The diving championships also wrapped up Saturday with Chatard placing 24th led by Grace Hurley who medaled in the finals.
