Saturday State Finals

Last weekend the conference completed a very successful Saturday with three teams advancing to state along with several individuals.

The morning started with the Guerin Catholic girls cross country team placing fourth in semi-state with a score of 192 to advance to the state championship on Saturday led by Bridget Gallagher’s fourth-place finish. Not only were the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles able to advance as a team, but several other conference runners also advanced. Lucy Wood from Brebeuf finished 11th, Julia Score (Chatard) placed fifth, and Lily Cridge (Chatard) won semi-state with a course record.

On the boys’ side, the Brebeuf Jesuit team qualified for the state finals with a fifth place finish scoring 163 led by second-place finisher Cameron Todd. Luke Moster (Guerin) finished 31st, Max Bourgeois (Chatard) placed 25th with Ethan Hines earning 13th to also advance to the state finals this Saturday.

Saturday’s cross-country state finals will take place at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, IN with the Girls’ race taking place at 12 pm ET and the Boys following at 2:30 pm ET.

Later in the day, Brebeuf advanced to their second state finals of the day as the Braves boys’ soccer team defeated Evansville Memorial 2-1. After winning a share of the conference title the  Brebeuf has won 12 of their last 13 in route to their second consecutive state championship. Last year the Braves were able to defeat West Lafayette 3-1.

Brebeuf will play Mishawaka Marian on Saturday in Carroll Stadium at 11 am ET.
