Championship Weekend Recap

We have four new Circle City Conference Champions all crowned since last Thursday. The long weekend started with the Brebeuf Jesuit girls’ tennis team winning the conference championship after completing the 5-0 season. This was Brebeufs second girls’ tennis championship and first since 2019. It helped extend the Braves’ lead in the all-sports championship. It was the schools’ fourth girls championship this year and ninth overall.

That was followed by an incredible Circle City Conference Track and Field Championship hosted at Guerin Catholic where the Bishop Chatard Trojans were able to sweep the trophies scoring an incredible 163 on the girls’ side, while the boys won a close championship race with 124 points. It was the second straight championship for the boys’ team and the third straight for the girls’ team.

The final championship of the weekend was crowned Monday at Roncalli, where the Royals boys’ volleyball team clinched their sixth straight Circle City Conference championship finishing off the Trojans in straight sets to complete the perfect season. This was the schools’ fifth conference championship this year.

With the spring season in the home stretch and a few more conference champions to be crowned the All-Sports standings are shaping up with Brebeuf currently holding a narrow lead in both. More champions will be crowned in the coming weeks.
