Girls Cross Country Championships – 9/28/2024
Brebeuf Jesuit, coached by Nick Klinger, won the Girls Cross Country Conference Championship held at Guerin Catholic on September 28th! Bishop Chatard’s Lady Trojans finished runner-up. Julia Score of Bishop Chatard defended her Conference title running her 5K in 18:00.7. Other All Conference team members included: Isabel Garcia, Brebeuf Jesuit; Madison Riggins, Brebeuf Jesuit; Emily Garten, Brebeuf Jesuit; Claudia Keller, Brebeuf Jesuit; Grace Leppert, Bishop Chatard; Taylor Tragesser, Guerin Catholic and Tessa Mize, Roncalli.
Post season experienced several Conference squads’ success! Brebeuf Jesuit won the Ben Davis Sectional with Isabel Garcia, Lucy Wood, Madison Riggins, Emily Garten & Claudia Keller each earning All Sectional honors. Roncalli won the Shelbyville Sectional with Ava Shirley, Tessa Mize, Charlie Fletter & Marygrace Rykowski earning All Sectional honors. Bishop Chatard finished 2nd & Heritage Christian placed 7th in the North Central Sectional with Julia Score of Bishop Chatard winning with her teammates Grace Leppert, Ceci Jackson & Maisie Chesebrough earning All Sectional honors. Heritage Christian’s Olivia Peterson, Olivia Miller, Claire LeBar, Ellery Hobson, Abby Schafer & Ella Tryon each advanced individually to the Regional round. Guerin Catholic placed 7th in the very tough Noblesville Sectional with Taylor Tragesser earning All Sectional honors & advancing to the Regional round. At the Regional Championships, Brebeuf Jesuit placed 2nd & Bishop Chatard was 4th at the Brownsburg Regional. All Regional honors went to Julia Score (Champion), Lucy Wood, Isabel Garcia, Madison Riggins, Ceci Jackson, Grace Leppert & Emily Garten. Guerin Catholic & Roncalli were unable to advance their teams from Regional, although Taylor Tragesser & Tessa Mize both individually advanced to the State Meet.
At the State Championship at Terre Haute’s LaVern Gibson Cross Country Facility, Brebeuf Jesuit placed 8th & Bishop Chatard was 12th overall! All State honors were earned by Julia Score (5th) and Lucy Wood (14th)!!
