Bishop Chatard Boys XC Wins Conference

Bishop Chatard, coached by Dan Kinghorn, won the Boys Cross Country Conference Championship held at Brebeuf Jesuit on September 27th by edging the Guerin Catholic’s Golden Eagles on the 6th runner tiebreaker. Damian Cain of Bishop Chatard won the Conference title running his 5K in 16:24.8.  Other All Conference team members included: Cole Eckstein, Guerin Catholic; Will Lucas, Roncalli; Hunter Kinzle-Gorman, Guerin Catholic; Marcus Pivec, Bishop Chatard; Quinn Hostettler, Bishop Chatard; Ashton Sommer, Guerin Catholic; Beck Biggerstaff, Brebeuf Jesuit; Boston Christy, Brebeuf Jesuit and Austin Rankin, Guerin Catholic.

 

Post season had Brebeuf Jesuit placing 7th at the Ben Davis Sectional with Beck Biggerstaff(25th) being the Braves top runner. Roncalli placed 6th at the Shelbyville Sectional with Will Lewis(24th) being the Royals top runner. Bishop Chatard finished 5th in the North Central Sectional with Damian Cain(14th) of Bishop Chatard earning All Sectional honors. Guerin Catholic placed 6th in the Noblesville Sectional with Cole Eckstein(17th) earning All Sectional honors. At the Regional Championships, Bishop Chatard placed 13th at the Brownsburg Regional with Damian Cain(50th) as the top Trojan runner. Bishop Chatard was unable to advance their team or any runners from Regional to the State meet. Brebeuf Jesuit’s Beck Biggerstaff(63rd) was the Braves top finisher at the Brownsburg Regional, but was unable to advance from Regional to the State meet. Roncalli’s Will Lewis(98th) was the Royals highest Regional placer, but was unable to advance to the State meet. Guerin Catholic’s Cole Eckstein(23rd) at the Shelbyville Regional advanced to the State Meet as the only Conference Boys’ representative.

 

At the State Championship at Terre Haute’s LaVern Gibson Cross Country Facility, Guerin Catholic’s Cole Eckstein placed 106th overall!
