Brebeuf Jesuit earned it’s first ever Circle City Conference football win on Saturday by defeating the Golden Eagles of Guerin Catholic. The Braves defense was particularly dominate in the first quarter, holding the Braves to 26 yards and 1 first down. Penalties killed the Guerin Catholic defense, leading to two early Brebeuf touchdowns. Thirty yards in penalties on the Brebeuf defense aided the Golden Eagles in getting on the board before the half. The score would remain 14-7 until late into the fourth quarter. Needing only a few first downs to salt the clock away, Brebeuf put together its most dominating drive of the night. The Braves needed only five plays to rush for 55 yards and a score. A pair of sack by Jay Higgins and Devin Harrison sealed the deal. Final Score – Brebeuf Jesuit 21, Guerin Catholic 7.

Brebeuf Jesuit – Brebeuf used a stingy defense and just enough plays on offense to beat Guerin 21-7 and record their first-ever Circle City Conference win on Saturday night. Will Turner, Jakobi McGowan and Isiah Martin all rushed for touchdowns for the Braves, who improved to 3-4 on the season.
Both teams struggled to move the ball all evening as reflected by a combined 15 punts and 6 for 28 third down conversions. Each team also stopped their opposition’s star player, as Brebeuf WR Jacob Pressler was held to 3 catches for 21 yards and no scores, while Guerin RB Thomas Kaser managed only 53 yards on 18 carries.
Brebeuf’s defense was the star unit, with James Kroot (9 tackles) and Jay Higgens (7 tackles) joining Dylan Howell and Devin Harris (2 Tackles for loss each) as key players. Alec Bevelhimer will spend Sunday icing his leg after 7 punts and 4 kickoffs.
Next up for the Braves is a trip to Hamilton Southeastern to play the 6A Royals next Friday night
