Recap
The Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team won its first game of the season Tuesday night with a 6-1 road Circle City Conference victory at Chatard. The Braves, now 1-0-1 on the campaign, will play Wednesday night at Center Grove.
Senior captain & MF Hallie Pearson played her first game this year for the Braves and was brilliant with two goals and two assists. Pearson did not play in Brebeuf’s 0-0 road tie at Top 10 ranked Noblesville last week due to US Soccer commitments. Coach Angela Berry-White’s squad got great efforts from a pair of sophomores – F Paige Edens & MF Sophie Weeter – as each scored a goal and had an assist. Two juniors – MF Alex Meltzer & F Brianna Arthur – each recorded goals for the Braves.
Senior captain and goalie Reni Osuntokun was stellar for the Braves once again, allowing no goals. Playing well defensively for Brebeuf were senior DEF Jordan Smith and junior DEF Kate Gunderson.
Brebeuf scored just 10 minutes into the game and then added a goal with 15 minutes left in the half to take a 2-0 lead at intermission. A three goal blitz in a four minute stretch midway through the second half put the game away for the Braves. Chatard’s lone goal came with just two minutes left to play. Despite the lopsided score, the Trojans did not give up and senior Sophie Sergi found the back of the net for Chatard’s lone score of the contest.
