Guerin – This match was the opener to a great afternoon of soccer between Guerin Catholic and Brebeuf Jesuit at Carroll Stadium in advance of the Indy Eleven game. “We were pleased with the solid effort and boys are boys displayed under pressure,” said head coach Chris McGrath. The Golden Eagles struck first with a penalty kick early in the second half, and capped it with another goal in the last five minutes, both by Andrew Garvney. Goalkeeper Will Oberndorfer notched his second clean sheet. This was a conference match between the two schools, who are also in the same sectional.
Brebeuf – The Brebeuf Boys Varsity soccer team fell to the Guerin Golden Eagles by the score of 2-0.
The game took place at Carroll Stadium, home of Indy Eleven, at IUPUI and the Braves looked tired, allowing a Golden Eagle player get in the box and was tackled down for a penalty kick for their first score.
In the second half, the Braves got a little more energy and looked better but could not score and pushed to the last minute and but the ball away with just a few minutes left for a second score.
Next game the Braves play at home against the Carmel Greyhounds.
