Recap
The Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team captured its second straight Circle City Conference championship Tuesday night with a hard-fought 2-0 victory at Roncalli. The Braves, who have only been in the CCC for two years have won league titles each year and have yet to lose a CCC contest. The win gives Brebeuf, ranked No. 1 in the nation by Maxpreps, an 11-0-1 record in 2017. The Braves have recorded four straight shutout wins and have not lost a regular-season road game in four years.
Brebeuf’s first goal came with 9:55 remaining in the first half when junior Brianna Arthur scored off a pass from senior captain Kayla Fitts. It marked Arthur’s 10th goal of the season — tied for the team lead. For Fitts, it was her ninth assist of the campaign.
Sophomore Sophie Weeter scored the game’s only other goal with 20:15 left in the contest on an assist from junior Phoebe Klein and sophomore Melanie Marshall.
Senior captain Reni Osuntokun was again superb in goal recording another shutout for the Braves.
Brebeuf will play its final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PMat Varsity Field against Fishers.
