Covenant Christian – The Lady Warriors welcomed Guerin Catholic HS (1-5, 0-2) to Andrew Smith Court at Warrior Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon, and jumped out to an early lead that led to a win. Covenant started the game on a 10-run on their way to an 18-10 lead after the first eight minutes. GCHS cut the lead to single digits several times in the second half, but the Lady Warriors were able to pull away in the fourth for a 47-35 win. CCHS used their transition game to convert 21 Golden Eagle turnovers to 20 points off of turnovers in a game that was very even in most other statistical categories.
Williams-Harris again led the way for Covenant, with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Senior Sania Borom had 8 points, 4 rebounds, and a team-high 5 steals. Sophomore Samara Douglas added 7 points and 4 rebounds in a game shortened for her by foul trouble. Sophomore Anna Guiff led CCHS with six boards for the game.
Covenant will hit the road twice this week. CCHS will battle CCC power Heritage Christian (4-3, 1-1) on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The HCS game will be broadcast on Indiana SRN. The Lady Warriors will then face Great Crossing HS in Georgetown, KY in the KY-IN Challenge on Saturday night at 8:00 pm. Tickets for the KY-IN Challenge can be purchased online.
